Since the granting of the planning permission earlier this year, the Trustees of the hall have been working hard on finalising details for the interior of the new buildings to ensure that they will be suitable for all users. In particular, we have carefully planned and designed the space allocated for the Parish Council office so that it is a workable space for our many public meetings. We have also utilised the roof space above the office to create much needed storage areas for all the files and equipment needed to run our village. We are also liaising closely with our amateur dramatics and orchestral users to carefully design and optimise the stage, lighting and sound systems, incorporating a mezzanine level in the main hall. There is much detail to consider and get right!

The Trustees have been busy pursuing all major funding avenues to bring this building project to fruition. We are actively seeking significant investment from Guildford Borough Council to match the loan from the Parish Council but this continues to be a complex and lengthy process, in particular following the recent change of Council leadership and many newly elected Councillors. We remain confident however that we will secure the remaining funding required.

In the meantime, we have engaged a professional Quantity Surveyor to work alongside our Architect in order to comply with the stipulations required by potential major funders and thereby continue to progress this project.

The next fundraising event will be held on Friday 29th November – a pampering and Christmas shopping evening where there will be loads of stalls to buy some lovely Christmas presents. Watch out for the flyers and posters for more details.
